Astronaut Training

Last week was the first week of the summer camp! The kids played some games together to get to know each other better. After the ice breakers all the kids got together and watched a video that introduced the theme of the camp, which is: outer space! Over the course of the summer all the children in the camp have to help NASA save planet Earth from an asteriod. To be able to help NASA the kids went through astronaut training to become junior astronauts. For this they had to complete a series of tasks that tested their cordination, balance, team work, and strength. Congratulations to all of our new junior astronauts! You are now able to help stop the asteroid.
Also last week we played space sports. These are typical games that aliens might play in outer space such as moon ball (football with your hands tied together) and asteroid shoot (baseball with a sqaure ball). The day after the space sports we went on a bike ride with the whole camp to a small pond and the kids caught crabs that live in the pond. After we went to the pond we went to look for plants that have a good smell for a later project we will be doing. And finally Friday was beach day. We took the children to the Port of Llançà and played games. In addition to the daily activities we do in camp we will be working on two things everyday. The first being a paper mache planets. Each class will make big planets to hang in their rooms. The second thing will be a song. Each class has choosen a song and each day they have to write lyrics to the song and towards the middle of the camp we will perform the song in front of everyone.
We hope you return here to the blog to see what the kids are doing at camp and watch their adventure as the help NASA to save planet Earth!
