Argilera Beach

What a lovely week it has been here at camp. We just finished week 2 of camp and are having a blast. Friday was another beach day and this time we went to Argilera. This beach is great because it has so many sea animals. The kids loved looking for crabs, sea cucumbers, and sea snails. We brought nets and buckets to help collect everything. After some animals were caught we put them in the buckets and got to watch them. If you have tried to catch a crab before you know it can be a funny event especially when its with a group of kids. I think there was also a unoficial competion for the biggest sea cucumber found.
In addition to our normal activties we continued to work on the paper mache planets. Right now the kids are almost finished putting the paper on the giant ballons and soon they can start painting their planets. After they're finished being painted we will hang them up to display in the classrooms. Normally we work on our planets before its time for the kids to leave and in the mornings we work on alien music. For alien music the kids have to take just the music for a song and write their own lyrics to it. Next week each class will dress up, paint their faces, and perform their song for the rest of the camp.
